Kathy attended and graduated from Thurgood Marshall School of Law. While in law school, Kathy was an active member in student organizations and she held the position as President of the highly active Civil Rights Law Society (CRLS). There, the CRLS hosted numerous events including police panels, invited prosecutors from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to speak, hosting professors from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, and even met with high school students to teach them their 5th and 6th amendment rights.
Before attending law school, Kathy was a Housing Manager for Goodwill Industries of Houston where she helped homeless Veterans become self-sufficient by obtaining housing by offering case management and supportive services and also conducted home inspections and visits. Additionally, Kathy attended the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Sociology. While at UTSA, she was the sole founder of The Young and Misguided (yMe?), which is an organization dedicated to serving the area of San Antonio’s youth through mentorship and participation in the community in hopes to affect the lives of grade school children.
Kathy is a active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority incorporated.
